A NEW EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMUNICATION TOWER HAD A RIBBON CUTTING AND THIS WAS SUCH A JOINT EFFORT FROM THE CITY, THE COUNTY AND THE STATE TO ENHANCE THE EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMUNICATION THROUGHOUT THE LOWER PART OF THE COUNTY.
I'M SURE THAT THE MAYOR WILL SAY A LOT MORE ABOUT THIS LATER.
SECONDLY, WHILE ATTENDING THAT EVENT, I WAS PERSONALLY INVITED BY ONE OF THE OFFICERS, POLICE OFFICERS TO ATTEND HIS PROMOTION CEREMONY AT THE POLICE STATION.
EVEN THOUGH I WAS SOMEWHAT CRASHED THE PARTY, I WAS HUMBLED AS I SAT AMONG THE MOTHERS, THE FATHERS, THE SISTERS, BROTHERS, SPOUSES, AND ESPECIALLY THE LITTLE CHILDREN OF THESE 15 OFFICERS THAT WERE PROMOTED YESTERDAY IN THE HARDEEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR CHIEF, SAM WOODWARD.
FOR A GROWING POLICE FORCE KNOWING THEY HAVE THAT POTENTIAL FOR PROFESSIONAL CAREER ADVANCEMENT IS A MOTIVATOR FOR THEM TO CONTINUE TO GIVE THEIR 100% EVERY DAY TO PROTECT THE CITIZENS OF HARDEEVILLE.
I WANTED TO PUBLICLY SAY CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERY OFFICER THAT WAS PROMOTED YESTERDAY AND CHALLENGED THEM TO CONTINUE TO BE THE EXAMPLE TO OUR YOUTH, TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO POTENTIALLY SELECT A CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT OR PERHAPS EVEN PUBLIC SERVICE.

AND THE STATISTICS FOR INSECURE FOOD INSECURITY IN OUR STATE ARE 8.2% AND JASPER COUNTY 16.9%.
AND IN BEAUFORT COUNTY, 11.2%.
SO THIS IS A SMALL THING THAT WE CAN DO FOR A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT WE KNOW WELL.
OUR MEMBERSHIP RAISED 16011 HUNDRED AND $11 TO BUY THE CARDS.
WE CHOSE PIGGLY WIGGLY BECAUSE MOST OF THE CLIENTS CAN WALK THERE AND IT'LL BE ACCESSIBLE TO THEM.
MR. SHERMAN GAVE US $100 DONATION, PLUS A 6.5% DISCOUNT.
SO THAT ALLOWED US TO BUY 125 CARDS.

SOME OF THAT CLEARING HAS STARTED NOW.
INFRASTRUCTURE MASTER PUMP STATION, ALL THOSE THINGS WILL BE INSTALLED WITH THAT PROJECT.
BUT AS PART OF OF THIS PROJECT, LENNAR WILL ALSO BE CONSTRUCTING THE FOUR LANE BOULEVARD FROM THIS POINT DOWN TO THESE TWO ADDITIONAL ACCESS POINTS HERE.
SO WITH OUR FIRST PHASE, THERE WILL BE THREE ACCESS POINTS, THIS ONE TO THE EXISTING LAKESIDE AND THEN TWO TO THIS LAKESIDE BOULEVARD EXTENSION HERE.

IT'S POLLUTING WITH FUMES AND DUST, AND IT'S ALSO TEARING UP THE ROADWAY LAKESIDE DRIVE.

AND WHAT'S KIND OF UNIQUE ABOUT THIS SITUATION IS THAT COMMUNITY HAS EXISTED FOR LITERALLY 15 YEARS.AND HAS BEEN PRETTY DORMANT UNTIL JUST RECENTLY.
WHEN ACTIVITY REALLY PICKED UP.
WE'VE JOINTLY APPROVED SEVERAL MASTER PLANS IN THE LAST YEAR, WHICH IS BRINGING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC ON THAT ROAD AND JUST LEADING TO A DEGRADATION OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE THAT LIVE ALONG THAT ROAD.
AND THE RESIDENTS TELL US TOLD US THAT THEY'RE ALSO FUNDING SOME OF THE REPAIRS OF THAT ROAD THROUGH THEIR HOA FEES, WHICH DOESN'T SEEM FAIR SINCE THE TRUCKS PROVIDE A LOT MORE WEAR AND TEAR TO THAT ROAD THAN GOLF CARTS AND PRIVATE VEHICLES.
SO THAT WAS WHAT LED TO OUR RECOMMENDATION THAT A CONSTRUCTION ROAD BE BUILT.
AND SINCE THIS IS ON THE WEST EDGE OF THE PROPERTY, THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES TO DO THAT.
SO THAT'S THE BACKGROUND OF WHY WE MADE THAT RECOMMENDATION WITH OUR APPROVAL.
THERE'S A THIRD ITEM THAT REALLY JUST TOUCHES ON THIS DEVELOPMENT.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE SEEN SOMETHING CALLED ROAD A.
THE LASER. THAT ONE RIGHT THERE.
THERE'S ANOTHER DEVELOPMENT THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY APPROVED A LONG TIME AGO THAT HASN'T HAPPENED.
SO THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE SEEN ROAD A.
AND IT IS INTENDED TO GO FROM 278 THROUGH THIS DEVELOPMENT ON UP TO 2000 ACRES FARTHER NORTH THAT WILL BE DEVELOPED IN THE FUTURE.
AND SO, AS NATHAN SAID, THE DEVELOPER IS GOING TO BUILD A PIECE OF IT RIGHT NOW.
BUT WHAT CAME UP IS THAT THERE IS REALLY NO DEFINED TERMINUS OF THAT ROAD ON 278.
AND SO SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACCESS 278 MAY BE CUT OFF.
BECAUSE THAT ROAD GOES THROUGH THE HORIZONS DEVELOPMENT.
AGAIN, IT'S A DORMANT MASTER PLAN, BUT IT'S STILL AN APPROVED MASTER PLAN.
MR. CZYMBOR MENTIONED THAT WE MIGHT HAVE TO LOOK AT GETTING ONTO RED DAM.
AND MAYBE MAKING SOME AGREEMENTS WITH SOME PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNERS TO DO SO.
BUT THAT WHOLE AREA OF 278 IS KIND OF IN FLUX WITH ALL THE CONSTRUCTION CHANGES THAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THE NEW EXIT EIGHT.
SO SOMEWHERE IN HERE WE NEED TO DEFINE WHAT HAPPENS WITH THIS SECOND ACCESS.
I MEAN, WE'VE APPROVED HUNDREDS OF NEW HOUSES HERE.
